Tree Surgery in Trefriw: Hillside Gardens and Village Lanes
Trefriw climbs the western side of the valley, with the woodland of the Gwydir Forest close behind and Llyn Geirionydd up the hill. Gardens here are often steep and terraced, and many properties back straight onto mature trees. Oak, ash, beech, larch and conifers all overhang roofs and boundaries, and the steep ground makes felling a job that needs proper planning.
Access is the main challenge. Narrow lanes near the woollen mill and the old spa can rule out big vehicles, so we plan around it, using rigging and controlled dismantling when a tree cannot simply be dropped. We take a tree down in sections where needed, lower each piece carefully and protect walls, greenhouses and neighbouring plots as we go.

Overhanging Trees, Damp Woodland and Storm Clear-Up
Trefriw is damp, sheltered woodland country, so trees grow quickly and ivy and moss build up on older specimens. That growth adds weight and sail area in high winds. We inspect the tree for dead wood, weak unions and decay, and only recommend removal when pruning cannot make it safe.
After a storm we can clear fallen branches from drives, walls and garden buildings, and cut up trunks that have come down across paths or lanes. If you have a larger area of woodland or an overgrown boundary that needs bringing back under control, we can also quote for site clearance and strimming.
Before any tree work, it is worth checking whether the tree is protected. Contact Conwy County Borough Council about Tree Preservation Orders and conservation areas, and see Natural Resources Wales for guidance on felling licences.
Tree Surgery in Trefriw: Your Questions Answered
Can you work on steep gardens in Trefriw?
Yes. Sloping and terraced gardens are common in Trefriw and we plan the work around them, taking trees down in controlled sections rather than dropping them where they could cause damage.
Do you remove trees close to houses and walls in Trefriw?
We do. Where a tree is too close to a building to fell in one piece, we dismantle it piece by piece and lower each section to the ground.
How do I get a quote for tree surgery in Trefriw?
